Original 1662 Engraving. Hand coloured engraving after Nicolas de Nicolay. From the Histoire Des Turcs chapter of 'Histoire generale des Turcs, des Mogols et Des Autres Tatares Occidentaux, Avant et Depuis Jesus-Christ Jusqu'a Present'. Full title "Fante de Raguese ou Porteur de Lettres" roughly translating to "Fante of Raguse or Letter Carrier". Page 36. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Staining along left edge as pictured and a repaired 'V' shaped tear to the right edge.Size

From a collection of seventeen engravings originally published in the Byzantine Greek historian, Laonikos Chalkokondyles', 'L'histoire de la décadence de l'empire grec et establissement de celuy des Turcs' and his 'Histoire generale des Turcs, des Mogols et Des Autres Tatares Occidentaux, Avant et Depuis Jesus-Christ Jusqu'a Present' which was published in Paris circa 1662.
