An original late 18th or early 19th century engraving by William Nelson Gardiner (1766-1814) after Henry William Bunbury (1750-1811), entitled 'Falstaff at Justice Shalow's Mustering his Recruits'. This scene depicts Part II Act III Scene II from Shakespeare's Henry IV. Signed in the plate to the lower corners. Inscribed with the dedication to the Duchess of York, and to the lower edge 'London: Published June 1 1792 by Thomas Macklin, Poets Gallery, Fleet Street'. On wove paper.
Condition
In typical condition for a picture of this age. Some discolouration to the paper, and light foxing. Trimmed within the plate lines. Some very small tears to the edges of the paper.
