Zsuzsi Roboz (1929-2012) was a painter and lithographer born in Budapest, Hungary. Roboz came to England in 1947. The artist studied at RA Schools under Peter Greenham, and in Florence with Pietro Annigoni from 1955 to 1957. She is best known for her portraits of leading figures in the creative and performing arts. Roboz's sitters included Dame Ninette de Valois, Anita Brookner, Will Self, Seamus Heaney and Harold Pinter. Her solo exhibitions included shows at the André Weil Gallery, Paris, the Curwen Gallery, Hamilton Galleries, London, Royal Festival Hall, London, O'Hana Gallery, London Roy Miles Gallery, London Patrick Seale Gallery, London and latterly her work was seen in the Messum Gallery, where a retrospective was held in 2011. She also exhibited at the RA, RBA and in New York. A fine pastelist, she was a member of the Pastel Society and of the Royal Society of Arts. Roboz's work is represented in the Museums Sheffield, Tate Gallery, V&A, Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest, Cartwright Hall Museum, New Scotland Yard, Durham University, Royal Festival Hall and the NPG. She was briefly married to the painter Ley Kenyon.
