Zoltan Hecht (1890–1968) - American School 1960 Ink Study Paleolithic Blaze
Description
Caught in a blaze of fire - This visual delight by Zoltan Hecht depicts a surreal city scene with an overwhelming Paleolithic impression. Geometric shapes and cylindrical forms have been used to portray city buildings and religious temples, carved out of stone. Black ink has been dramatically sponged in large quantities to resemble deadly smoke rising from the flames. Animal bones and forged objects lay hidden in the composition, like fossils waiting to be found. This is a painting that keeps on giving. Signed and dated in the top right-hand corner. Well presented in a gilt-effect frame. On board.Condition
Slight warping evident in the painted board. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. The gilt frame is in a good condition with a few light marks and scratches.
