A very fine grisaille watercolour depicting a stone gateway with horse riders, figures and a dog. The distant rolling hills can be seen to the right. The artist has produced the scene in a typical late 19th Century style, with influences from the Picturesque movement. Monogrammed to the lower right and dated '92'. In very good condition overall, for a picture of this age. There is only light discolouration of the substrate. The frame has several losses and marks.
