Description
A particularly fine early 20th century watercolour by Wycliffe Egginton (1875-1951), depicting a female figure crossing the blustery common at Belstone, Dartmoor. The watercolour has been signed by the artist to the lower left. Presented in a crisp wash-line mount and slim gilt frame. Fixed to the reverse of the frame is an inscribed Eland's Gallery label with the title of the artwork and artist's name. On watercolour paper.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration to the watercolour and a fine black mark caught beneath the glazing on the right-hand side.

Artist Biography
Wycliffe Egginton was a landscape painter born in Birmingham in 1875, focusing on oil and watercolour.
Wycliffe was educated in Birmingham and Wallasey and then exhibited oil and watercolour works in the Royal Academy. He also had a number of one-man shows in the Fine Art Society and public collections in the Royal Institute and Paris Salon.
Egginton lived in Devon for many years before he died in June 1951.
