William Warden (1908-1982) was a landscape painter in oil and watercolour. He studied at the Liverpool City School of Art from 1924 until 1930. He later moved to Sussex and worked under George Graham.
He became a member of the Society of Sussex Painters in 1938 and exhibited at the RA, NEAC, RBA, with the AEB and Arts Council. Hastings Art Gallery holds much of his work, and official purchases include the Imperial War Museum, Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and Rye Art Gallery. From the early 1950s Warden concentrated on oils, and regular stays at Agalier, in the Avignon area of France, lightened his palette. Warden died in Southport, Lancashire, although he lived at Winchelsea Beach, Sussex.
