William Say - Original 1824 Mezzotint. After a painting by Annibal Garracci. Published March 1st 1824 by W.B. Cooke in London. Signed in plate. On wove. Loss to lower side at plate. Foxing and various closed tears to top side as shown.

William Say (1768 - 1834) Mezzotint engraver of portraits and historical, genre and decorative subjects after his contemporaries and Old Master Painters. Born near Norwich, he came to London at the age of Twenty and was apprenticed to J. Ward. In 1807 he was appointed engraver to the Duke of York.
