William Say - Original 1811 Mezzotint. We recently acquired a number of fine Mezzotints previously owned by Chris Lennox-Boyd, owner of the finest collection of British Mezzotints in private hands. Signed in plate. On wove. Staining and discolouration as shown. Minor tears and losses to upper-left side.

William Say (1768 - 1834) Mezzotint engraver of portraits and historical, genre and decorative subjects after his contemporaries and Old Master Painters. Born near Norwich, he came to London at the age of Twenty and was apprenticed to J. Ward. In 1807 he was appointed engraver to the Duke of York.
