Description

A dramatic drypoint etching by the prolific Scottish printmaker William Renison (1893-1938). Here, Renison has captured the glassy surface of Loch Katrine in contrasting monotones. Signed in graphite below plate lines and present in a fine black frame with card mount. On wove.

Condition

Light wear to the frame and discolouration to the card mount. Several small imperfections in the frame's glazing. The print itself is in very good condition considering its age.

Artist Biography

William Renison was born in Glasgow but later lived in Auchterarder, Perthshire. He was a prolific etcher of the Scottish countryside, exhibiting 39 works at the Glasgow Institute, 4 at the Fine Arts Society, 2 at the Royal Academy, 4 at the Royal Scottish Academy and others at Liverpool, Manchester and Ireland.
