William Rainey (1852-1936) - Inscribed Original Late 19th Century Watercolour. An illustration for the publication 'A Hero of the Mutiny' by Escott Lynn, published by W. & R. Chambers Ltd (1913). Inscribed in pencil under the image, beneath the mount, reading 'A Hero of the Mutiny - "A dark figure made a sudden rush upon him", p. 58'. Laid to a piece if backing card measuring 39 x 31 cm, presented in a cream card hinged mount measuring 45 x 35 cm. Inscribed. On wove. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration but generally the appearance is excellent. There is some foxing to the backing card but this is not affecting the watercolour.
