An attractive watercolours study of a rambling thatched cottage by British artist William Hull. A young child can be seen sat on their mother's knee under a porch. While a male figure looks to be taking a break from work, resting up against a wooden structural prop. Signed to the lower left corner. Presented in a fine gilt-effect frame and cream mount. Glazed. On laid.

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some even discolouration. The frame and mount are in fine condition.

Artist Biography

William Hull (6 May 1820 – 15 March 1880) was an English watercolours landscape and still-life painter, illustrator and etcher, who exhibited at the Royal Academy in London. He was the brother of Edward Hull, another well known illustrator and painter.
