William Henry Stopford (1842-1890) was an Irish artist, born in Cork. He is best known for his watercolours of coastal scenes and seascapes. He studied under his father Robert Lowe Stopford (1813-1898) at the Cork School of Art and at South Kensington, where he later became a drawing master. He also taught at the St Martin's Lane School of Art and afterwards became Headmaster of the Halifax School of Art. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1880 and at Suffolk Street from 1867-1880. Two watercolours by Stopford are held by the Victorian and Albert Museum.
