William Faithorne - Original 1658 Engraving. Portrait of Mary Ruthven, wife of Van Dyck, half-length turned slightly to left but looking towards the viewer, wearing a low cut dress fastened by jewelled clasps at the front, with large scalloped-hemmed sleeves, her right hand holding a rosary around her left wrist, with a cross dangling over her fourth finger; after Anthony van Dyck; illustration to Saunderson's 'Graphice.' Trimmed inside plate. On laid. Unsigned. Repaired tear to upper left corner (1cm). Creasing and staining to corners and wear as shown.
