This charming study depicts the coastal town of Brixham in Devon. Three figures row their small boat towards the harbour where fishing boats are neatly moored. In the distance Croxford has captured the terraced houses and narrow lands of the coastal town. Signed, titled and dated to the lower edge. On wove laid to board.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration.

Artist Biography
Painter, born in Brentwood, Essex and was predominantly a painter of coastal scenes and fishermen. He travelled extensively and lived in Hastings and later in Cornwall at Newlyn and St. Ives. He exhibited at the RA, RBA, ROI and FAS. He was the father of Grace Marie Butterworth nee Croxford who was also an artist. A retrospective exhibition of his painting was held in Hayle, Cornwall in 1992. A painting by him is held in the Penlee House Gallery & Museum.
