Description

A charming wintry scene in oil from the mid 19th Century, showing a farmer clutching an early in season, new born lamb close to his chest as the mother ewe follows closely at his side as the three trudge through thick snow as more falls silently around them. The red brick farmhouse stands behind them. The artist has signed and dated to the lower left corner and the painting has been presented in a 20th Century gilt frame. There is an inscription at the reverse with the title and further illegible text (possibly the location). On canvas.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. Small canvas repair to the reverse that has been fully restored at the front.
