Artist Biography

William Hough was particularly renowned for his still life studies depicting fruit and birds' nests. He was recorded to be an assistant master at The Coventry School of Art in 1853. His style was massively influential to his students, many adapting it themselves, and he gained many imitators over his artistic career. He exhibited his still life studies at both the Royal Academy and at the New Watercolour Society between 1857 and 1894. Other exhibitions include Royal Society of Artists, Coventry, Walker Art Gallery and the Manchester City Art Gallery.
