Wil van Dinther was born in Oss in 1917 and studied at the Academie Kunstuitoefening in Arnhem before attending the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam in 1943. He spent much of his life living and working in the capital. A passionate traveller, van Dinther always carried sketchbooks, drawing and painting throughout his journeys. While he had a particular affinity for landscapes and cityscapes, he was also highly skilled in still life and figurative painting, working primarily in an expressionist style.
