An expressive and delicate depiction of a vase of flowers by the British listed artist Walter Taylor (1875-1965). Taylor is known for being a painter and weaver involved with the Arts & Crafts Movement, particularly of floral still life compositions. The artist has a masterly command of the oil medium, using impasto to produce three dimensional form with vibrant colours to perfectly portray the vase of flowers. Signed in the lower right hand corner and well presented in a distressed style gilt effect frame, as shown. Signed. On board.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age, including some discolouration and surface dirt. The frame contains some minor scuffed edges, resulting in some surface loss and paint loss. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration.
