A charming, detailed portrait of a man in a trench coats and hat with a pipe in his mouth. Titled 'Gruber' to the lower right behind the mount of the frame. A Gruber the word for a German person from a geological depression, mine, or pit, so we can assume that the man worked down in the mines. There is a Christie's label to the reverse. Presented in an ornate swept gilt frame. On board.Condition
There is some craquelure to the surface. There is a surface mark to the lower right. There has been restoration to the lower left corner of the frame.
