Artist Biography

Architect and painter born in Kensington, London the son of a Doctor. He attended studied at the Lambeth School of Art, 1884-85 following which he attended the Académie Julian in Paris, 1886-87. From 1886 he exhibited at many of the London and provincial galleries including the Abbey Gallery, Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, Fine Art Society, Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, International Society of Sculptors, Painters & Gravers, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, Leicester Galleries, London Salon, Manchester Academy of Fine Arts, New Gallery, Royal Academy, Royal Hibernian Academy, Ridley Art Society, Royal Institute of Oil Painters and Walker's Gallery. Further, he showed at the Royal Society of British Artists who elected him a member in 1906 and the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours who had also elected him to their ranks in 1898. Collins served in Royal Navy during World War I seeing action in the Dardanelles and Egypt. He travelled widely producing paintings in England, Spain and Italy. An example of his work is held in the collection of the Britannia Royal Naval College and Manchester City Art Gallery holds his work. He died in Cossington, Somerset.
