Description
A finely detailed etching with aquatint and hand colouring depicting Conway Castle on the north coast of Wales. This print comes from The Romantic And Picturesque Scenery Of England and Wales, an early nineteenth-century collection of prints etched by William Pickett (act. 1792-1820) and coloured by John Clarke (1771-1863) after drawings by Philippe Jacques de Loutherbourg (1740-1812). The work is beautifully presented in a gilt-effect frame with a beaded running pattern. Unsigned. On paper.
Condition
Signs of wear consistent with age including discolouration and foxing. Wear and scuffs to the frame.
