A brooding and dark Scottish landscape in oil shows a view across Avon Loch towards the imposing mountains at the other side. The artist has signed and dated to the lower left corner and the painting has been presented in a 19th Century frame with contemporary gilt finish. There is a lengthy inscription at the reverse, likely with information about the location, however the writing is faded and all but illegible. On canvas.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is some craquelure to the surface. There are some very small losses to the paint in the lower left quadrant and the frame has substantial losses, chipping and scuffing.
