An impressively sized, early 20th Century oil still life of beautiful chrysanthemums in a variety of colours. The artist has used and impasto application of the paint to achieve the texture of the layered petals of the flowers. The artist has signed and dated to the lower right. There is a label affixed at the reverse with an illegible inscription, possibly in German. On canvas.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is some craquelure to the surface. Inspection under UV light reveals some areas of restoration. There are a large number of canvas repairs and reinforcements at the reverse that have been fully restored at the front.
