Moonlight reflects on the white walls of the quiet village buildings and casts long shadows across the street in this evocative night scene. The dimly lit road stretches away into the ominous blackness, drawing the viewer into the stillness of the night. Signed and dated to the lower right. Well presented in a vintage silver gilt-effect frame. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age, including some discolouration, surface dirt, and craquelure. 5cm tear to the canvas in the upper left corner, along the edge of the frame. Small hole to the upper centre. The artwork has undergone some restoration, including a canvas tear repair. Wear and scuffs to the frame. Some small losses to the running pattern.
