Description

Very Fine Original Georgian Embroidery. A hand painted silk picture, stitched in long stitch. The female figure in the embroidery has inscribed the name 'Tancred' on the tree trunk, suggesting that she is the saracen Erminia. The attendant lambs are embroidered in wool. The colours are well-retained. In a verre eglomise frame. Unsigned. Embroidery in fine condition. There are some minor knocks to the frame as shown.
