Description
A charming late 19th Century oil scene showing a woman with a fish basket slung over her back, standing on the steps of her harbourside home. A small basket of fish sits at her fish and she looks out towards the water as her husband walks out of the shadow of the building towards the harbour with a basket on his shoulder. The sun is shining over this quaint scene giving it an idyllic summertime atmosphere. The painting has much of the style and composition of the traditional Newlyn School of painters working at this time. The painting is unsigned and presented in a 20th Century gilt frame. On canvas.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is some craquelure to the surface.
