London born Thomas Tayler Ireland was a landscape artist who painted in both oils and watercolours, although mostly watercolours. He was the son of Lowestoft born painter also called Thomas Ireland who painted in a similar style although mainly in oils. Thomas Jnr or Tomm as he is referred to began work as a commercial clerk according to the census of 1891. He married Mildred Clara Brown in 1911 and had a studio in Camden Street, north-west London. Nothing is recorded as to his artistic training but it is probable that he received some tuition from his father.
He showed at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, Manchester Academy of Fine Arts, New Gallery, Royal Academy of Arts, Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Royal Institute of Oil Painters. Examples of his work are held in the collections of Alfred East Art Gallery and the Lytham St. Annes Art Collection.
