Thomas Charles Leeson Rowbotham was an Irish watercolours artist and lithographer and was trained by his father Thomas Leeson Scrase Rowbotham. His work was exhibited at the Royal Academy and Suffolk Street Gallery. He was elected an associate of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours in 1848 and became a fully member in 1851. He succeeded his father as Professor of Drawing at the Royal Naval School in Greenwich. His son Charles Edmund Rowbotham (1856-1921) carried on the family tradition of becoming an artist and became an accomplished painter and printmaker.
