A delightful late 19th century oil by the British artist Theodore Hines (fl.1880-1890). Depicting a female figure walking in a Scottish landscape scene with loch and distance mountains. Hines was well known for his landscape scenes of the British isles, and this wonderful example is a fine example of his work. Presented in a gilt slip. Inscribed on the reverse. Signed. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and surface dirt. With areas of craqueleure, most noticably to the sky and loch. There are marks to the slip and some losses to the gilt paint.Inspection under UV light shows no sign of restoration.
