Description

A charming early 19th century oil depicting Venus and her son Cupid nestled in pink clouds. Cupid looks up to his mother handing her a golden apple, the prize awarded to her by the shepherd Paris in the fabled judgement. Signed 'T. Tardy' and dated to the lower right. Beautifully presented in an octagonal frame. On board.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age, including some discolouration to the varnish, minor scuffs and scratches throughout. A note verso states 'restored 1992'. The frame shows signs of wear consistent with age, including scuffs, chips and indentations throughout.
