A fine 18th Century engraving showing a pious young woman kneeling in prayer at the edge of her bed. The scene comes from a series of engravings published to she the differences between the lives of "wanton" girls and "good" girls. There is an illuminated inscription at the lower edge with various Bible verses and Psalms and the title and publisher and artist's details. The engraving has been attractively presented in a fitting Hogarth style, pear wood, black lacquer frame with ripple molding and a gilt inner window. On wove.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is a vertical tear at the centre of the lower edge that has been repaired. The frame is in fine condition.
