A country landscape in Bailiffscourt, Sussex, featuring a dovecote and man with a small tractor and trailer. Signed and dated in graphite to the lower-right edge. Unfinished watercolour study to the reverse. On watercolour paper with deckled edge.

Artist Biography

Stewart Charles Hine (1928-2018) was by profession an electronic engineer, however, he was skilled in painting, writing, photography, sailing and classic cars among other things. A talented and versatile artist, Hine was a member of the Guild of Aviation Artists. Best known for his depictions of railways and aeroplanes, Hine was also keen on landscapes and portraits. Examples of his work are included in the collections of the Fleet Air Arm Museum, the London Transport Museum and the Imperial War Museum.
