Seven original engravings from Edward Barnard's 'New Complete and Authentic History of England' (1783), published by Alexander Hogg. It was issued in response to the growing demand for works on all subjects by a newly educated reading public in England. The illustrations depict the murder of the Princes in the Tower, the Battle of the Boyne, Canute the Great, the Black Prince, Emperor Adrian, General G.A. Elliott, and the Anglo-Saxon defeat of the Danes during the reign of Edward the Elder. All are inscribed with various artists and engravers in plate. On laid.
