Set of Two Early 20th Century Embroidery Scenes - The Artist's Workshop
Description
An impressive pair of detailed applique fabric scenes probably on a silk based substrate with watercolour and gouache detail, showing an artist's workshop and a shop selling caged birds. The combination of delicately folded and sewn fabric with the intricate painted detail, obsessively records the scene in fascinating clarity, down to the individual hairs to the artists paint laden brush. Hardly distinguishable miniature hands hammer frames and prepare paper in an expressive dexterity beautifully recreated via the textile medium.
Both artworks are identical in size and have been well presented in simple carved wood frames.
Signed.Condition
