Artist Biography

Sergio Vatteroni was a sculptor, etcher, and lithographer, born in Carrara in 1890. He studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, where he would later teach. He travelled extensively, collecting impressions throughout Latin America. He illustrated the Carrara quarries with a series of thirty large etchings. He has exhibited at the Venice Biennale, as well as in Rome and Florence. His works are also preserved in the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome and in the National Museum of Sofia.
