Sarah Hutton studied at the Central School of Art and Design in London where she became influenced by the life-drawings of Cecil Collins, as well as spending time at Syracuse University in New York to study American abstract work. She is strongly inspired by the drama and beauty of the Yorkshire countryside. She prefers to make what she describes as ‘primitive’ drawings on site in order capture the ‘moment in time’ before returning to her studio to paint. She has held many sellout exhibitions including the Art 91 to Art 97 shows in London, and during those years also held shows at the Mall Gallery.
