Sannie Frances Drew (1903-1969) was a painter born in Mussooree, India. Educated in England in 1923, she returned to India and later married. She travelled back to England in the late 1920’s to enroll at the Chelsea Polytechnic, studying later at Edinburgh College of Art under John Maxwell.
In 1961, she joined the British School of Archaeology in Jerusalem as a draughtswoman. Her solo exhibitions included the Minories, Colchester 1966, Reading Art Gallery in1967 and Bear Lane Gallery, Oxford, 1971. Drew was a member of the Artists' International Association, and the Women's International Art Club, succeeding Mary Fedden as Chairperson. Her daughter was Joanna Drew, the art historian, gallery director and Arts Council guru.
