Sally Gaywood - 1960 Oil Silver Birches in a Landscape
Description
An impressive landscape by English artist Sally Gaywood, depicting silver birch trees in an expansive landscape. Gaywood was a pupil of the late Robert Goodwin, and studied with him in his Chelsea studio. Known for her use of light, atmosphere and depiction of skies and clouds, Gaywood has a delicate and expressive touch. This early landscape differs slightly from Gaywood's most recent work, where she has drifted towards the abstract in her 'visionary' paintings. However, this piece remains a fine example of her work.
Gaywood has had a number of one-man exhibitions in London, the House of Commons and abroad. She was also commissioned to produce views of the Royal farms at Windsor, which are now part of HM the Queen's Royal Collection.
This fine landscape is well presented in an ornate frame with gilt detail.
