A striking still life composition of a parakeet on a Clarice Cliff vase. Signed to the lower left. Presented in a decorative black frame with delicate running patterns. On paper.

Condition

There is a small scratch on the frame's glazing. The artwork itself is in excellent condition.

Artist Biography

Painter, illustrator, author and printmaker born in Huddersfield who worked as an illustrator from the 1950s onwards. She was taught at the City and Guilds of London Art School, c. 1950-53. She has illustrated several books and designed book jackets, some of which are listed below. Her work has been reproduced in magazines such as The Complete Imbiber, the house journal of W. & A. Gilbey Ltd, which were featured in Graphis in September/October 1957. Exhibitions of Ducksbury’s work were held at Portal Gallery, London, in 1962, 1968 and in 1976. An example of her etching is held in the Government Art Collection. She was married to the artist Robert Hunt.
