Description

An elevated view of the village of Widecombe in the Moor in Dartmoor, Devon. The church of St Pancras in the centre of the composition is known as the Cathedral of the Moors, on account of its tall tower and its large size relative to the small population it serves. Presented in an ornate gilt-effect wooden frame with a linen slip and a gold inner edge. Signed to the lower-left corner. Dated and inscribed with the location on the verso. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

There are some small marks to the surface, slip, and frame. There is some slight gapping between the canvas and frame at the right side. Overall in very good condition. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration.
