Artist Biography
Roy Perry (1935-1993) was a painter born in Liverpool. Perry attended Southampton University where he read Accountancy, which he continued to practise after qualifying. Roy Perry turned to full-time painting after being made redundant in 1971 and by 1978 his success had earned him election to the RI where he won the Society’s Gold Medal in the same year. He also showed at the RA, RSMA, RBA, at the Linda Blackstone Gallery in Pinner, Middlesex and at the Century Gallery, Henley-on-Thames in 1994 who gave him a memorial show.
Perry executed commissions for the Royal Artillery, The Ghurkha Regiment and for the parachute Regiment. Perry was appointed Official War Artist for the Falklands War Campaign and examples of his work are in the collections of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, HRH The Prince of Wales, Margaret Thatcher and the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, Somerset.
