A fine 20th Century oil in the manner of L. S. Lowry, showing a bustling pavement with people forming a queue outside the fish and fruit shop . An industrial town stretches out behind the crowd with chimneys billowing smoke into the sky. The characters have a wonderful naivety to them, as was typical in Lowry's work. This adds a touch of humour to the otherwise rather stark setting. The artist has signed and dated to the lower left and the painting has been presented in a 20th Century gilt effect frame. On canvas board.
