Roy Freer NEAC RI ROI (1938-2021) was a painter, born in Birmingham. He studied at Bournville School of Art, 1953-56 and Birmingham School of Art, 1956-58. Freer was a member of the Pastel Society, NEAC, ROI and the RI, he has exhibited widely. His group shows include the RA, NEAC, and the RWS. His solo exhibitions include shows at the Orleans Gallery, Richmond, Surrey, and at the Anna-Mei Chadwick Gallery, Linda Blackstone Gallery, both in London and in 1994 at the Catto Gallery, Hampstead. His commissions include in 1987 Paintings of Helicopters and Road Transport Vehicles for the Alcoa Manufacturing UK Ltd, the paintings of Ireland for the Shell UK calendar in 1992 and the 1995 snooker final between Steve Davis and Jimmy White for Fidelity Unit Trust. Articles by him or about have appeared in The Artist, Artist and Illustrators Magazine, Leisure Painter and Antique Collecting Magazine amongst others. His wife Sally Freer (b. 1940) is also an artist.
