Description

An atmospheric study of a fishing boat resting on mudflats at low tide, shrouded in a misty late-summer morning near the Essex coast. The cool-toned palette of soft blues, greys, and muted greens enhances the tranquil, almost melancholic mood. Smaller moored boats linger in the distance, their silhouettes fading gently into the haze, enriching the quiet maritime scene. Well presented in a gilt-effect frame with canvas slip. Signed, inscribed and dated to the reverse. Clarges Gallery label fixed to the reverse. On canvas board.

Condition

In fine condition overall. Some marks and scuffs to the frame. Slight discolouration to the canvas slip.

16 x 24cm (6.3" x 9.4")
