Artist Biography

Roger Coleman (b.1930) was a British painter and illustrator. He studied at Leicester College of Art, and later at the Royal College of Art. He won the Marlborough Fine Art National Portrait Competition in 1951, and was briefly an exhibitor with the Situation Group at the Royal Society of British Artists in 1960. Coleman was the editor of a design magazine for a time, and later became a freelance illustrator and producer of book jackets. Coleman exhibited at the Royal Academy and Royal Watercolour Society, and held a solo exhibition at the Compton Casey Gallery in 1979.
