A mesmerising miniature study of a yellow rose by Robin Mackertich (1921-1993). The naive depiction portrays the flower like a jewel under blue and white skies. The oil has been presented in a charming gilt-effect frame with the artist's initials visible to the lower edge. On board.

Artist Biography

Robin Mackertich lived in Cambridge although she had been born in India. She studied at the Wimbledon School of Art and The Slade from 1937-1939, returning to her studies in 1946 following Army service during the Second World War. Her work owes much stylistically to her Mentor, Carel Weight.

She was member of the New English Society and the RBA.
