A finely detailed etching depicting a woman selling her wares from a basket on a quaint village street. Monogrammed and dated within the plate. Signed in graphite to the lower margin. On paper laid to card.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age, including discolouration and light foxing. Small tear to the upper left.

Artist Biography
Robert Walker Macbeth RA was a Scottish painter, etcher and watercolourist, specialising in rustic pastoral landscapes. His father was the portrait painter Norman Macbeth. Macbeth was educated at Edinburgh, Friedrichsdorf, and the Royal Scottish Academy Schools. Many of his landscapes were painted in Lincolnshire and in the West Country, although he spent much of his life in London. Macbeth was elected member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers in 1880, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours in 1882, Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1893, Royal Watercolour Society in 1901 and Royal Academy in 1903, where he exhibited seventy pictures. Examples of his work are in the collection of the Tate Gallery and in Adelaide Art Gallery.
