Description

A beautiful and dramatic oil landscape by well-listed Irish artist Robert Taylor Carson (1919-2008). The composition captures a serene coastal view with verdant banks and pristine turquoise waters nestled between dramatic, shade-dappled mountains. Mulroy Bay was a favoured subject of Carson's. The painting is elegantly presented in a distressed gilt-effect frame with elaborate baroque-style ornamentation. Signed 'R. Taylor Carson' lower right. On canvas board.

Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age. Light dirtying noted to the surface of the oil. The picture frame is in good condition with no losses. The overall condition of the artwork is very good.

Artist Biography

Robert Taylor Carson (1919-2008) was an Irish painter who adopted an impressionistic style. His subjects included figures, portraits, and landscapes; he often worked in oils, watercolours, and pastels. Carson was made a member of the Royal Ulster Academy in 1975, and a member of the Ulster Water Colour Society in 1983. His work has been exhibited regularly throughout Ireland, America, and Europe. His paintings are held in various public and private collections, including The National Self Portrait Collection and the University of Limerick.
