A sheepdog playfully bounds around cattle as a farmer herds his livestock through the sleepy village of Middleton, Yorkshire.
This watercolour has maintained its strong, bright colours, which provide a marvellous sense of depth and immersion.
The artwork is signed and dated in the bottom left-hand corner and inscribed on the mount, as well as on the reverse.
Well presented in a gilded frame with a washline mount.

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration.

Artist Biography
Robert Sanderson (1848-1908) was a Scottish artist who lived in Edinburgh and painted mainly genre scenes. Sanderson exhibited with the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours.
